Velin knew this was an important part of reporting to a new ship but it had to rank as his least favorite part. He was approaching sickbay with some trepidation. Every doctor handled his ... unique case differently and being that he would have to come in every week or two for routine maintenance meant that whatever the reaction would be would have long standing consequences one way or another. The doors hissed open as he walked through. He turned heading for the CMO's office hoping to find him or her on duty.

"You won't find anyone in there," Caroline called over. She was sat crossed legged on one of the bio beds a PADD in her hand. As only 2 medical staff had reported in yet, herself being one of them, the place was practically empty. And it seemed, he had not noticed her at all. She knew him immediately from his personal records which she had been studying not even an hour ago. She had not had any kind of interaction with Borg physiology and mechanisms before and now on this new ship she had two officers with that sort of history.

"Can I help you Lieutenant Ikiri?" she asked hoping she had got the pronunciation correct.

He turned to her and handed her a padd with his medical profile on it. "As is customary im reporting for my onboarding physical examination. I wished to discuss any questions you had about my case."

"Did I pronounce it right?" Caroline asked jumping off the bed. He was all business but considering the amount of visits he was going to end up making here with her and her staff, then the rapport needed to be worked on. "How are you setting in?"

He nodded and said, "you did, i am setteling in well the upgrade is going well and for the most part my engineering crew is compitent."

"Good to know," Caroline stated pulling a strand of her bobbed hair behind her ear. "We are a little thin on the ground so far but that will change soon. Should enjoy the quiet right? Have you found your quarters yet?" she asked activating the bio bed sensors and dousing her tricorder around him. She caught sight of his dark iris and suddenly found she was holding in a breath. His eyes were just like Tolan's had been. She had read about the incident with the Vulcan but the information on his med file was nothing compared to seeing it first hand now.

"Well it is not anything approaching quiet in engineering though i suppose i would find things a little odd if they were. Still the upgrades are proceeding well and... " He noticed her staring directly into his eyes. "Is there something wrong doctor?" He was unsure but it seemed as though she were frozen but he couldn't see any obvious malady's.

"No," Caroline said sadly. "You just .... you remind me of someone I used to work with."

"Height and weight ratio looks good. Your blood pressure is only slight elavated but we can probably account for the change in environment for that. Although, you are also ever so slightly dehydrated. Please make an effort to drink more lieutenant. Regarding your implants and keeping an eye on them, I can see that your last doctor initiated a bi-weekly schedule of appointments. I am happy to do the same. Would you like me to schedule those with a mix of times round your shift patterns?" she asked gently.

He looked to her something told her that she was distressed but he wasn't certain how to proceed. Instead he adressed her questions. "Yes that will be sufficient thank you. Am i to understand my implants are in alignment then as well?" He could tell that something she had seen or thought of disturbed her greatly but he honestly didn't know if inquiring would be a wise thing or not.

Caroline studied the implants furthers. "They have drifted slightly. I would prefer to have my microteloprator calibrated first before letting loose on you. I know its brand new but I would just feel better knowing its been tested properly. And ..... " she said with a cheeky smile. "Lo and behold. I happen to have a chief engineer in my mits. I don't suppose you would be so kind?"

He nodded, "I will comply." He grabbed a tricorder and walked up to the aforementioned device and began to scan it. He made several small adjustments here and there but by in large the device fell within acceptable parameters for starfleet medical. "I have calibrated the device." He handed it to her, "If you wish you may begin." She seemed uneasy but he couldn't decipher whether it was because of what she had noticed earlier or unfamiliarity with his borg systems he could not tell.

"Thank you Chief," Caroline took the device. He really was all business. She got to work realigning the implants. She didn't know if it hurt him in any way, outwardly she couldn't tell but tread as carefully as she could. "I am new with Borg physiology. I guess you can probably tell. I know a little theory but have not had any practice until now. What is the function of this one?" she said. "If I may ask."

He winced and his right hand started twitching, "You have misaligned that last implant ensure you adjust your alignment to account for the interconnectivity between that and my tertiary plexing node." She made the adjustment and he took a breath again, "The specific implant regulates the production and controll of my borg nano probes. A full list of my implants and functions are listed with my medical file."

"I know there is," Caroline said gently concentrating hard. There was no course in this at the academy and med school in this sort of thing. The whole notion of ex-borg was a relatively new phenomena. She was mortified she had managed to misalign and cause him discomfort. She was also aware with two of them in her mits, it would be a fast learning curve.

"I am doing the best I can to memorise them lieutenant and I'm sorry I have no prior experience in this but I promise you, once "I get it", I will have got the procedures right and these sessions together will be far less stressful on you."

He was surprised by her reaction, it in context made little sense to him, "My statement was not a critique of your work only a statement of what had occurred, i meant no offense." People's reactions still largely confused him but he was beginning to understand more and more about them. Still it didn't take much to catch him off guard. "For your first attempt you are actually doing rather well."

Caroline flushed. She actually felt her cheeks colour. He really did remind her of Tolan. "Thank you," she said softly. "I think your done," she said after adjusting it again.

He stood and said, "I see, very well i will see you in two weeks time, if you have further questions about my physiology or the borg implants consult me. I will expound them for you." With that he turned and headed for the door, "I will see you at our next scheduled visit."

And that was that. He was gone. Caroline's eyelashes flipped backwards and forwards in disbelief. He was definitely all business.
