| Physical Description | Tall but lean, his hair is kept cut short. His black eyes are somewhat unsettling to some as they seem to lack some vital spark that is found with most humanoid races Batazoids in particular. There are no visible marks of his assimilation other than his right hand which has dermal plating at least none that isn't covered by the uniform. |

| General Overview | Straightforward and forthright almost to a fault, Velin is focused and direct. He has a difficult time at social functions or off duty. He is somewhat solitary, not unwilling to work with others in fact while on duty he has a talent for forming excellent teams but when their isn't something to be accomplished directly he seems to desire to be left alone. | |

Medical Record
| Personal History | Born on Batazed Velin was a very gifted child. His telepathic abilities were equal to that of others that had to be institutionalized. However for some reasons, many of the medical professionals never understood he seemed much more balanced than other children with similar abilities. He was raised on Batazed until the age of 7 after that, everything changed. His father a diplomat was on a mission to discuss relations with another federation world when his ship was attacked by the Borg cube that eventually made its way to sector 001 The entire craft was assimilated and he was placed in a maturation chamber. Though as many that were assimilated in this time he was transferred to another Borg ship before that cubes ultimate destruction at sector 001 Several years later, Velin had been stationed on a Borg sphere when it malfunctioned and crashed on a planet on the outskirts of federation space. The USS Patomic an intrepid class starship was sent to investigate and they found several Borg drones cut off from the collective. The Patomic saved as many of they could beginning the difficult and lengthy process of removing their cybernetic implants and restoring their bodies. Velin however was slightly different. The doctors at the time didn't understand why but Velins systems were far more integrated than they had thought. Some theorize that this was a prototype response to the drones the collective had lost over the years. When Velin awoke for the first time after being fully removed from the collective his telepathic centers were reactivated. He reached out for the other minds of the collective instinctively but instead ended up finding a Vulcan that was working in the sickbay at the time. The link that was created was so intense that both Velin and Lt Samar had to be rushed to Vulcan to undo the bond. The experience left Velin completely unable to use his telepathy and still severely affected by the cybernetic components they were never able to remove completely. It took some time but eventually Velin began to adapt to his changed life. He decided that without some form of purpose he would probably end up in a very bad situation. Thus seeking purpose he applied to Starfleet. This caused a great amount of consternation and concern within Starfleet command and the academy review board. However due to outstanding test scores and much debate Velin was allowed entrance with a few understandings set down. Starfleet academy was difficult for Velin, though he passed his engineering classes all very very well the philosophical diplomatic and cultural courses proved to be very challenging. He was assaulted twice during his academy years the second time he accidentally severely injured one of the attacking parties. Velin excelled at his posting to the Sovereign, though still isolating himself he began to associate with other crew members and come to a better understanding of social situations, something he outright avoided in the academy. His posting to Utopia Plenitia however was where his career began to see real promise. He excelled at starship design creating 53 new components and contributing to the development and problem solving teams for several new starship designs. His time on board the USS Jericho taught him about team building and higher level leadership delegation and began to prove to him how important a certain amount of non work related discussion could be to the smooth operation of a given team. Now he eagerly awaits transfer to a ship he had a great deal of involvement with in its design phase. He is looking forward to the challenges and rewards that will come with working with a team and ship of that size and power. |
