Pearl was a bit nervous, it was time for her to introduce herself as being part of the security team now. She had met Gregor when they were working on that bar back before the ship had been hit by that strand. Now though, things were different and she had a different rank and post now. She tapped on her commbadge to send out a call for her new boss.

=/\= Lieutenant Morgan, this is Petty Officer Pearl Bijoux, sir, may I have a moment of your time, please? Where shall we meet?"

Gregor tapped his combadge. =/\= I am currently in my office catching up on reports, Come on by I can use a bit of a break Petty Officer Bijoux. =/\=

Pearl arrived shortly after contacting Gregor, feeling a little bit self concious. "Hello, sir. " she greeted him when Pearl stepped inside his office. "Thank you for seeing me. Its a bit strange to me being in this color instead of being in green. However the marines were sent to another sector with the exception of me. It was deemed that I had actually made the grade for being in StarFleet." Pearl standing at attention.

" At ease Petty Officer second and take a seat. " Said Gregor in a friendly tone. " Pearl Bijoux correct? Form the name may I assume that your Cajun? " He asked. " Would you like something to drink? I was about to have some coffee myself. " He said as he went to the replicator.

"Coffee sounds great, thank you."Pearl stated, then she went to take a seat. "I'm not Cajun but I am from the swamps, on Baleek V. It was a backwater settlement. Mom and Dad were sort of wanderers, dad mostly trying to keep out of the reach of those who want their money." Pearl giving a nonchalant shrug.

Gregor knew things were tough for people all over and they had to make a living however they could, but said nothing about the situation as he felt that she didn't really want to talk about that. That wasn't why she was here. " Computer, two black coffee. " The machine hummed as the items appeared and he sat the coffee down in front of Pearl and then took a seat himself. " I'm assuming that your not here to sell me a subscription to the federation newsletter or try to sell me some cookies. So what is it that you wish to speak to me about Petty Officer Bijoux" As he then took a swig from his mug and looked directly into her eyes.

"No sir, I wanted to meet with you in this new capacity, of my being on your team. Last time we met, you and I were working together on that one bar, with me being a marine. Now though I am under your command as it were." she gave a grateful sigh accepting the cup of coffee from Lieutenant Morgan, feeling the warmth coming from the cup to her cold hands. "This is a new thing for me, and well guess I am just working on becoming grounded, more settled in this capacity I am in now."

" Nothing wrong with being grounded. " Said Gregor. " Besides there are a lot of details that security handles that are identical to what you were doing in the marines. Your fully trained, So I doubt it will take you long to get used to your duties. Do you have any concerns about your new duties here on the Merlin? "

"I think it will be just getting into a routine, and getting familiarized with new people. As it is in some way I am a newly arrived even though I've been on the ship, for a little bit of time now." Pearl answered. "I feel I am up to the challenge though."

" I'm glad to hear it. Security is a department that always needs good people, Our job isn't glamorous but it is vital for everyone aboard the ship and even the federation in the long run. " Said Gregor. " Just like you did serving in the Marines, it is our duty to serve and protect that which we love, The people we cherish and the ideals of the federation. That is what I expect from the people that I work with, and from your record I can plainly see that you've served that way to begin with. I know you'll be up for the challenge. " He said to Pearl.

Pearl smiled, "Thank you, you have helped to allay my concerns. I am glad that I will be serving with you, so, have you met with your other security officer, Lieutenant Oakum? I think the last time I had even seen him was about a couple of months. Or so it seems."

" Yes I have and he's a good man. I haven't interacted with him much as of recently, As I have just returned from my honeymoon. "

"Well then if I can be just a small amount of being bold, lets get together and see about um, getting reacquainted? Might be lovely to do so." the former marine suggested with a smile. "I could do with a meet and greet myself just to help with adjusting into my new role." Pearl giving a slight laugh.

" Are you talking about getting together with me re introducing you to the Lieutenant or introducing you to the rest of the security staff? " He asked. " Both will get done, I like my people to know one another so as to work well with each other. "

"Well basically re-introducing me to Lieutenant Oakham, he may not remember me as its been awhile since our last meeting. Then later on, the rest of the security we'll just function as normal?" Pearl was gaining some confidence in this as they continued to talk.

" I hope you didn't think I was just going to toss you into the mix and tell everyone to get to know the new kid if they wanted to, did you? " He said with a grin. " I'm not that callous. Standard routine around here is I introduce the new person during briefing and some of the officers might ask you about yourself or what you like doing. Of course your free to answer or decline any such questions as you wish. "

Pearl spluttered just a little bit. "I had no idea of what you would do. That is what happened to me at my earlier postings as a marine." giving a wry smile and a shrug. "During a briefing sounds great. We do have the new refit of the Merlin to consider and who knows what sorts of mischief could happen." giving Gregor a nod.

" During the refit, security will still need to be present to make sure only authorized people are coming aboard, Just not as many will be required. I know my people work hard, and they play hard as well when it's time to blow off some steam. I am willing to cut my people some slack, but god help the person if they're actions go over the line and embarrass the Captain or sully the good name of this ship. Just act within reason and everything should be ok. Do we have an understanding? " He asked

"Yes sir, we most definitely do. I think that is all sir, and thank you for seeing me." Pearl felt better about having this talk with Lieutenant Morgan. " I will definitely be doing my best." rising up from the chair, then sat down as she hadn't been dismissed. " May I be dismissed sir?"

" Of course you may. You are dismissed Petty Officer 2nd Bijoux, And welcome to the team. " He looked down at a pile of about a half dozen PaDD's on the desk in front of him and sighed. " Well it's back to filling out reports and making the duty rooster. " He said as he got back to work.
