With effectively twenty four hours before my next 'scheduled' duty shift, I took the opportunity to spend some time with my Family, and also make use of the exceptional upgraded Holo-suites the Merlin acquired at her last re-fit ...

I was impressed with the almost total interaction between characters, but as the program, one depicting an Earth in the nineteen thirties, where while the United States was relishing in holding the Worlds Fair, it was also suffering from poverty, unemployment, and worse still, the iron fist's of the underworld rulers, who ran everything from transport, to food production, to imports and exports, and most importantly, finance !

I had taken on the persona of an FBI, Federal Bureau of Investigation, operative, undercover in one of the larger 'Families' ran by Italian's and better known as the 'Mafia' ..... It was thoroughly engrossing, and at times I actually felt that I needed to carry out the task, or test, to ensure my own safety. I intend finding, if possible, any programs featuring fair-grounds, the bigger, taller, faster, the better, because, even though my Children are only four and six years of age, they seem to have absolutely 'zero' perception of fear. I can vividly recall last year, while on holiday on Rascor IV, which is effectively a resort planet, catering for everyone from practically new-born to the most elderly of visitors, Mackenzie climbed onto the five meter board in the pool and promptly stepped off. The resulting heart attacks suffered by Lana and myself didn't dissuade her from wanting to repeat the activity the second she surfaced.

I'm sure our time on the Merlin will afford us some time for recreation. Though with my position as Chief of Operations, and Lana's opening of the first dedicated School aboard the ship, it might be more difficult.

I may suggest to the Commander that use of the Holo-suite's, while not compulsory, should be utilised by everyone who can find the time. They offer an 'escape' if you will, from the daily routine of ship-borne life.
