Personal History Tridi was born on the planet Jyrac in the year 2370. A pre-warp society, the Jyracans were a mostly agricultural society with little ambition to leave their world. This had, unfortunately, begun to lead to overcrowding and resource depletion that was affecting their entire populace. Tridi's family saw the risk in this and his mother, Bipi, began working on the development of a better life for her people by realizing their future was in the stars.

The rest of their race was not as accepting. Bipi and her plans were ridiculed by the Jyracan society and were ordered to be abandoned by their Prime Minister. Undeterred, Bipi began working in secret on the future of her people and used what resources she had to build for their future. Her strongest champion was her son, Tridi. Tridi had been the firstborn in his family and had been the most heavily instructed in the sciences by his mother. His father, the local magistrate, had been tolerant of his wife's efforts, but unsupportive on the governmental level. This led them to work in secret on their project.

It took a great deal of time, the entirety of Tridi's childhood, but he and his mother designed what was the first Warp Drive in the history of the planet Jyrac. They brought their proposal back to the government, hoping for resource funding, but were again ridiculed for their efforts. The government had been also working on a similar project and deemed their efforts futile as the drive would not work with current scientific principles and they had abandoned their space program after reaching their orbiting satellite. They refused further work on the project and informed all involved that any additional efforts would be viewed as treason. While most would accept this, Bipi and Tridi did not. Instead, they continued their secret work deep within the confines of their world behind the backs of their government.

On his 18th birthday, they had their breakthrough: they successfully developed a warp engine. Purchasing a personal flyer, they secretly installed the Warp Engine with plans to test the unit in a controlled environment. While finalizing the installation the military came for them to take their research and execute them for treason - turned in by his own father: Farri. Tridi watched as his mother was executed from inside the cockpit, unable to assist her. As they came for him he did the only thing possible: he launched his flyer. Entering the lower atmosphere he knew he didn't have the power needed to escape the atmosphere so he did the only thing he could: he engaged the engine and propelled himself into space at Warp. He had penetrated the lightspeed barrier but at a cost. The flyer was not designed for such high speeds and began to break up. He had resolved himself to his coming death when he saw a massive vessel overtake him. As the flyer broke into pieces around him he found himself transported aboard the Starship Excelsior. Knowing he could not return home, having lost his family and being considered a criminal on his planet, he asked to travel with the Excelsior back to their homeworld as a refugee.

Alone in the galaxy, Tridi applied to become a student at Starfleet Academy's Luna Annex and was quickly admitted due to being the only Jyracan in the Federation. He studied Warp Theory and Flight Control but was faced with the fact that all of his theories were based upon old science and not relevant to the modern era. He almost failed, multiple times, due to his unusual upbringing and lack of formal schooling - not even realizing until his second semester he actually had to go to classes. Being a refugee many of his instructors took pity on him and helped him more than they should. Eventually, after multiple years of repeat training, he graduated from the Luna Annex and was assigned to serve as Flight Controller of the Starship Aphrodite.

During his brief tour of service aboard the Aphrodite, Ensign Tridi caught the attention of Commodore Oh of Starfleet Security and was transferred to serve as the Commodore’s personal pilot during a special assignment to the former Romulan Neutral Zone. Serving with the Commodore for three months, upon completion of his assignment his role aboard the Aphrodite had been reassigned. With the support of Commodore Oh, Tridi was transferred to the Starship Merlin as their new Flight Controller.
