ON:

"A ship has just dropped out of warp," The tactical officer said. "It's a Federation Transport."

Before the Captain could respond the comm officer announced, "they're hailing us."

"On screen," the Captain said. When the image of the other ship's bridge came on screen he stood and said, "this is Captain Bray of the USS Grissom. How can we help you?"

From off screen a voice began saying, "hello, Capt. Bray," then a Starfleet Commander stepped into view and finished with, "I'm CDR George of the Federation Transport USS Velera. We're bringing you your new ACMO."

"We weren't expecting you for two more days," Bray said.

"Yeah....we made better time than expected," George said. "Starfleet said you were under a strict schedule so....," he shrugged. "...better early than late."

"Very true," Bray said. "Transfer the doctor's security file over and we will beam him over as soon as he is cleared."

"He's a she, Captain," George said with a grin. "And a Marine."

Bray quirked an eyebrow. He knew they were expecting a new doctor that would be slotted as ACMO if they were successful in their mission but he was not aware that the doctor would be another Marine. They had enough of them crawling all over the Grissom and he couldn't wait for them to leave. His security staff had been busy refereeing fights that were constantly breaking out between the Marines and the Starfleet staff. Shaking his head he said, "have her ready, Commander," and he motioned to the comm officer to cut transmission. He walked over to the command chair and palmed the comlink. "Security....you have an incoming security file. Verify its validity and notify Transporter Room 2 when you've cleared it."

"Aye aye, Captain," came the reply.

Bray sat back down in his chair and said, "as soon as the good doctor is on board, get back underway."

On the Velera, Cara waited on the transporter pad and shifted the weight of her duffel bag.

"Sorry for the delay, Doctor," the transporter operator said. "They have to clear your security file."

"That's fine, Chief," Cara said with a smile to the Chief Petty Officer at the transporter console. She glanced over at the large travel container that held most of her prized possessions, wishing she had packed less in the duffel bag and more in the container.

A few minutes later the CPO tapped a couple keys and said, "are you ready?" Then not waiting for a reply said, "energizing," and Cara disappeared from the Velera and materialized on the Grissom.
