Cale entered his quarters after his "meeting" with the new science officer. That could have gone better, but I think he will fit in with this group of misfits just nicely, he thought to himself. He still couldn't put his finger on what the man was hiding but didn't have enough to bring to the captain. So he would put off that particular discussion until such time as required to figure out if what Barel was hiding posed a threat to his crew and ship.

"Computer, begin log." And the computer beeped its response so Cale began speaking his mind.

"I've just had a not-so-well-handled meeting with our new science officer and I have come to discover something disturbing to say the least about our new officer. Not only is he extremely intelligent but he is also extremely rude and condescending and untrusting. But the latter could be from either his Romulan upbringing or his desire to remain aloof like most good scientists are.

"And while on the subject of good scientists, I may have to look into his background a little deeper. Not to say I don't trust him but because I want to get a better sense of him as an officer and what he's capable of as a scientist. Though I am somewhat trepicadious about what he's holding back I need to get over it.

"Computer, end log, file and send."
