Personal Log :: SD 239403.28 - 22:00 ...

Following our meal, and a promise to take Mackenzie and Mia to see one of the Merlin's shuttle's, I made an excuse to go to the Shuttle-bay the following day. Lieutenant Commander Jones was already there and the girls were very pleased to see her.

After a short time Commander Jones asked if the girls wanted to see inside, needless to say, both were over the moon and eagerly climbed aboard. but if they had thought they were just going to look at the shuttle, they were astonished when the Commander activated the shuttle ... We departed the Merlin and took a short flight to a nearby nebula and both of my extremely excited Daughters were allowed to take their turn at the helm.

Returning to the Merlin a small problem developed and Mackenzie was asked if she could help. To my admitted surprise, she did so, realigning the shuttle to enter the 'bay correctly, as the shuttle landed she was asked if she could power down and again completed the task almost flawlessly, which is phenomenal given Kenzi is still only six years of age !

After both girls and myself returned to our quarters, they eagerly began to tell their Mother about the adventure to the nebula. They played the shuttle log recording several times, pointing out what each of them did and when. I have to say here that I could not have been more proud of my two Daughters and how they conducted themselves during their surprise outing, they are a credit, both to their mother and myself, love them to pieces, I really do.

Lieutenant commander Jones has contacted me asking if I would be would be willing to meet her to discuss some basic piloting training for Kenzie, she obviously sees something in her and again, despite her very young age, must be sure this extracurricular training could be both fun and educational, and could help her in the future. Kenzie doesn't know as yet, given i haven't had the meeting, but I've discussed it with Lana and she approves wholeheartedly, all I need to do now is find a myriad of ways to entertain my four year old during these sessions.

I believe Lieutenant Commander Jones will become a close friend of our Family, and both Lana and myself appreciate her giving up her time on our behalf ...
